| Description | Egypt has celebrated the completion of works on Toshki giant water lifting station disposing on a daily tested design capacity to pump 25 million M3 of precious Nile water into Toshki main canal & several branch canals. It was executed under L.E. 1.48 billion investments. Foreign project component reached $ 258 million with local manufacture component put at L.E. 602 million, representing almost 35 % of costs. Station comprises 21 pumping units, of which three are standbys. Station major components including pumps, motors and valves were supplied & erected by Hitachi of Japan. It is fed by a 300 MW/ hour power supply source. As to operation & maintenance during the one-year guarantee period and according to Dr. Eng. Mahmoud Abu Zeid, Minister of Water Resources & Irrigation, some foreign supervisors would continue to work at the station during that period.
