| Description | Four concession agreements for petroleum exploration & exploitation with US, UK & German companies were recently ratified by the People Assembly. Three of the agreements, to be signed with the EGPC, included one with Merlon of the US covering 4,500 Km2 area in Fayyoum, in the Western Desert, to drill 6 wells under $ 18 million investments & another with LK Exploration of UK, covering 531 Km2 in Ras Badran Zone on the Suez Gulf, to drill 5 wells under $ 14 million investments. They also included an agreement with Barin Energy, also of UK, covering 4,300 Km2 area at East Kanayes zone in the Western Desert, to drill 3 wells under $ 14 million investments. The fourth agreement, to be signed with the Natural Gases Holding Co. is with RWE Co. of Germany, covering 5,500 Km2 at Dessouk Zone in the Nile Delta, to drill 7 wells under $ 20 million investments. |
