| Description | According to Dr. Eng. Hassan Younis, Minister of Electricity & Energy, works are set to soon start on Assuit Barrage & 40 MW hydroelectric power station backed by Euro 51 million German funding. This is Egypt fifth hydroelectric power station [to add to Asswan 1, Asswan 2, the High Dam & Esna stations]. Dr. Younis has indicated that so far, the four hydroelectric power stations supplied almost 17.5 % of the country energy production. No mention was given to the nominated project main contractor. |
