| Description | Media reports have quoted Egypt Minister of Investment, Dr. Mahmoud Mohie El Din, presenting a (unique) diagnostic of difficulties and challenges delaying the privatization of the national (nitrogen) fertilizers industry. The Minister claimed monopoly practices, setting of upper ceiling for product prices, export restrictions & applied policies governing prices of major industry inputs (particularly natural gas & electricity) etc. all need be addressed before proceeding with the projected privatization. Statements came in full harmony with earlier reported statements of Eng. Rashid Mohamed Rashid, Egypt Minister of Foreign Trade & Industry, confirming that no restrictions to privatization of companies whatsoever except to those producing medicines. He assured that unless those issues are addressed, no investors would buy shares in (nitrogen) fertilizers companies. |
